Understanding the Real Living Wage
The Real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate independently calculated based on the actual cost of living. Unlike the government’s National Living Wage, which is the legal minimum employers must pay for over-21s, the Real Living Wage is a higher, voluntary rate that ensures employees can meet everyday needs. As of 23 October 2024, the rates are £12.60 per hour across the UK and £13.85 per hour in London.
